The Law of the People’s Republic of China on the Protection of Wildlife was passed by the National People’s Congress in 1988. It was first amended in 2004 and secondly amended on 2 July 2016. The second amendment shall enter into force on 1 January 2017. Below are major differences between the old and the newly amended laws. The yellow highlights are the areas which do not exist in the old law.
